Braindumps is a blog run by Violet Pixels, a web design, hosting and software business based in Kent, England. This page explains what this website collects, why, and what you can do about it. Last updated 12 September 2026.
What we collect and why
The contact form
When you write to us we receive your name, email address and message. We use them to reply. The message goes to our email and is not stored anywhere else.
Server logs
Like every website, the server keeps standard access logs: the pages requested, the time, the internet address they came from and the browser used. They are used only to keep the site running and secure, and are deleted on a rolling basis by the hosting provider.
Your reading preferences
The site remembers whether you chose light or dark mode. That is stored in your own browser, never sent to us, and you can clear it by clearing your browser’s site data.
Cookies and analytics
On your first visit a small card asks whether we may count your visit with Google Analytics. If you say yes, Google sets cookies (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID) that last up to two years and tell us which articles are read and roughly where readers come from; Google’s own privacy policy covers what it does with that data. If you say no, or if your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, nothing from Google loads and no cookie is set. Your answer is remembered in your browser for a year and you can change it at any time from the “Cookies” link in the footer.
We do not use advertising cookies and we do not sell, rent or share anything about you.
The browser tools
The calculators and converters on this site run entirely in your browser. Nothing you type into them is sent to us or to anyone else.
Who we share information with
Our email and web hosting providers handle your messages on our behalf and under contract. Analytics data goes to Google only if you said yes. We will share information if the law requires it. That is the full list.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and object to how we use it. Use the contact page and we will sort it out, normally within a few days and always within a month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If we change what the site collects, we will update this page and the date at the top.
